Are you 19+, Actively seeking work? Claiming Job Seekers Allowance or means tested benefits? Then Opening Doors at Northbrook MET have free training available to help you get back into the workplace.
Working with local employers we have training opportunities with guaranteed job interviews to fast track you back into the work place.
Northbrook MET have launched an exciting new initiative to help prepare young people aged 16-24 for the workplace. Promoted through the Government’s Traineeship flagship the training offer will last anything from six weeks to a maximum of six months with the content tailored to the needs of the young person, the business and the local economy.
Traineeships are an ideal opportunity for motivated young people who are not currently in education, training or employment but feel they are lacking the skills or experience which employers are looking for. We hope by supporting this initiative in partnership with local employers the college will be able to help more young people take that next step into an Apprenticeship or alternative work.

The NCFE Sussex Learner of the Year award was won by Shefali Vaidya for her hard work and dedication to learning. Shefali has continued to strive towards her goals, paying great attention to detail and always going the extra mile to extend her knowledge and skills by making full use of resources and opportunities available. English is not Shefali’s first language, and she has been meticulous in ensuring her grammar and spelling was correct.
Northbrook MET Employment Programme Tutor Jo Kingston said, “Shefali has been an outstanding learner. She is now working in health and social care as an administrator and I am certain that she will prove to be an asset to the company.”
