The philosophy of our Media and Photography programmes is to enable students to gain the confidence and expertise they need to find their own voice and vision.
The Media Arts Department has a range of dedicated studios and digital technology rooms with specialist hardware and software for video editing, image, text and animation.
Exhibition and study trips, visiting lecturers and specialist practitioners form prominent features of the programmes.
Many of the teaching staff are practising professionals with industry experience and connections. The Media & Photography degree programmes aim to prepare students with a range of professional and transferable skills for employment or further study and future career opportunities within television, film, photography, advertising and/or creative industries.
“On the evidence of the London ‘Free Range degree shows’ at the Truman Brewery, the standard of Northbrook work is higher than the other Universities that were exhibiting photography. Northbrook students work, was more visually intelligent, inventive and better researched.
"The smaller numbers at Northbrook is an excellent platform for nurturing talent. The student gets quick well informed feedback, more ‘face to face’ contact and as a group they have developed quicker to a higher standard than a lot of larger institutions and universities they compete against.
“There is great support between students and an eagerness to learn…There is a great spirit, closeness and awareness of each other and their work that isn’t so obvious at other institutions.”
