We are seeking new governors to join our Board

Dates: Apply by Friday 8 December 2017
Location: Greater Brighton Region
Contract Type: Voluntary

Greater Brighton Metropolitan College (MET) was created from the merger of City College Brighton and Northbrook College Sussex.

With a £40m turnaround, approximately 13,000 students and 1,000 expert staff, it is one of the largest organisations in the region and operates across five campuses in Brighton, Shoreham and Worthing.

It offers a comprehensive range of qualifications for 16 year olds leaving school, full and part time courses for adults, apprenticeships, professional qualifications and university degrees.

The College already delivers some outstanding education and has ambitious plans for the future, as contained in our new strategic plan. To enable us to realise these plans we are looking for new Board Members to further strengthen our governance arrangements.

We have a strong board of governors, some of whom are due to step down over the next year as their terms of office come to an end. To ensure effective succession planning, and introduce specific skills and experience to the board, we are now looking to appoint new governors.

Meetings are held on Monday afternoons/evenings once a month with three board strategy days each year. Governors are also expected to engage with students, staff and employers at various college events during the year.

We are seeking new governors to join our Board who:

  • are excited by the vision and the ambition of GBMet and can contribute to a strategic, cohesive and effective Board
  • have successful senior Board level experience, possessing excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well energy and commitment

For one of the positions we are particularly interested in hearing from people with a background in finance.

In return the College can offer you an opportunity to work with a highly committed Board and expert staff and a sense of achievement in making a positive difference to the College, students, businesses and the local community.

We strongly encourage applications from all sections of the community so that we can reflect its diversity.
