A Northbrook MET Theatre Production student has been awarded a Highly Commended for Student Achievement in the annual Stage Management Association (SMA) awards at London's Alexandra Palace.
Pippa Lowen was identified by her tutor Jo Loader as a student who has flourished and stepped up to go above and beyond the requirements of a production role.
Jo said, "Pippa has always supported the shows she has been assigned to work on, but in addition, she has also supported her peers on shows, even when not scheduled to do so. She won a professional work placement with 'One from The Heart' productions to work on a pantomime last Christmas. On her return she stepped straight in to support her peers by taking on the role of Deputy Stage Manager for a production she had never even seen!"
"She has a professional and sophisticated level of Stage Management skills that will no doubt see her win the 'Stage Manager of the Year' award in a very short time."
A representative for the SMA said, "It's been a record year for nominations in our individual and team stage management categories, and the standard has been very high indeed. Congratulations to all nominees - it is a great achievement and a measure of great work to be singled out by colleagues and recommended for our awards."
The SMA works for stage managers and stage management throughout the UK, supporting excellence in performance.
