A Northbrook MET Propmaking degree student has won the Dutch preliminary round of the Yamato Cosplay Cup International.
Sharon Huls, who has just completed the second year of her FdA, impressed the judges with her costume of Cordana Felsong from World of Warcraft: Legion. The spectacular costume was made from foam and fabric and took several months of painstaking work to make. The foam was heat-formed and glued by hand, following handmade patterns, with details burnt in with a woodburner. The armour was then coated in latex and painted with acrylics and airbrushing. Various LED effects were also added to the shoulders, helmet, cloak and skirt.
Sharon said, "I had to perform a ninety second dance in my costume as well as answer a range of questions posed by the judges. When they announced my name as the winner, I thought it was a mistake - it couldn't be me. I ran on stage and was so happy. The course has allowed me to gain me all the skills I need to work on future enterprises."
Sharon will now go on to compete in the 2018 finals which will be held from 7th-9th of July in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
