Northbrook Motorsport Engineering students are celebrating following an impressive series of wins in the Tiedeman Trophy Mono Championship.
Team Northbrook Racing together with professional racing driver Shane Kelly, won three cups in the six race series, held over three weekends at Castle Combe, Mallory Park and Donington Park racing circuits.
In a spectacular display at Mallory Park, the team clocked up two wins, two fastest laps and a pole position. The team also won second and third place cups in the final two races at Donington Park on 14
November and achieved fourth overall in the Tiedeman Championship.
Their success follows long hours of preparation on the College’s Formula Renault Van Diemen at Northbrook’s auto workshops at the Shoreham Airport campus.
Motorsport student Jeremy Dimos said, “This is a fitting reward for the hard work and unbelievably long hours that go into making the team competitive.”
Northbrook's racing driver Shane Kelly said, "The team did a lot of hard work pre-season; we went to the circuits we are racing at this year and perfected the set-up on the car for the fastest lap time. Team Northbrook Racing has done everything that a professional team would do and the proof is the results from the Tiedman Trophy. I'm so happy for the team."
Northbrook’s ‘hands on’ motorsport courses have successfully landed pupils in the motorsport industry including roles with luxury car marque Aston Martin and McLaren Formula One.
