WorldSkills Games Students Northbrook students have been making their mark in national skills competition ‘WorldSkills’.

Regan Ware, 18, and Ashley Walton, 19, competed in the 3D Modelling regional heat, with Regan wowing the judges and making it into the national finals in November.

The heat, which took place at South Thames College in London, required each student to model a Victorian desk scene that contained various items and would subsequently be judged on poly count, artistic presentation, edge flow and ultraviolet layout.

Regan said, “The competition was quite fun. It was challenging especially as we were given a time limit. I’m really excited about competing in the nationals especially as it is a three day event.”

Beauty Therapy students have also been impressing at WorldSkills with Greta Jonauskyte, 18, coming second and Laura Stevens coming third place at the Beauty Therapy regional heat at Aylesbury College.

This follows Northbrook’s success earlier on this year with Bricklaying apprentice Marc Dawson, who achieved a first place in the SkillBuild competition – a precursor to WorldSkills.
